The gift that is music
Music, for me, is one of the biggest soul soothers, mood lifters and all round super hero!
Underestimated by some; appreciated by the majority.
I love that music speaks to everyone differently!
It can tell stories.
It can make you see you’re not alone.
It can remind you of love, friendships, laughter, tears… it can touch on the rainbow that is human emotion.
It can help your process.
It can even help you acknowledge the melancholy tones that touch our lives.
What I love more though, is that it connects you.
You get to meet such an amazing variety of people all connected by this ‘one thing’ you get to talk to people you might not otherwise and you get to hear their stories and they get to hear yours and you all get to connect in this beautifully honest way that I have only seen a handful of ‘things’ achieve.
Now days you even get to learn more about those around you and those you didn’t even know.
The internet is this crazy, wonderful, amazing, terrifying, unifying, shattering, myriad of thoughts, possibilities and views and yet somehow…it also creates a kind of sanctuary for so many of us.
We get to see and communicate with people and feel a whole new sense of connection.
How strange it is to live in this time where everything is disposable yet connective. Where people search for connection outside of themselves and forget that they have people around them to connect with. Somewhere in between it all, music lives to connect us.
I think that is the other thing I love about music, gigs bring us all together and make us forget about our phones, we are all there for the same purpose, to connect and enjoy the music that sung to our souls, for whatever reason.
Some people just like a happy beat, others find solace in the lyrics and some enjoy the wide variety of feelings that music brings to our life.
What a gift.
